Merrieweathers Stables and Barn are set within 40 acres, surrounded by trees, fields, woodland and a lake. As soon as you start your descent down the half mile drive you will feel that you are in a truly special place. The Sussex countryside views from the drive are beautiful and either side of the drive is woodland which is full of wildflowers and wildlife.
There are a series of ‘outdoor rooms’ at the front of the property. These comprise of two small gravelled courtyards with shrubs and herbaceous plants, which would be an ideal place to set up a hot tub (can be hired locally), and a raised koi pond separates a large slate paved area, with plenty of teak benches and steps down to the oak front door and entrance hall.
All ground floor rooms have doors to a large walled private courtyard. There are two levels to the courtyard: an upper slated level which has a large teak dining table and chairs and steps down to a sunken gravelled garden with benches, sunloungers and a Victorian mill stone bubbling fountain, perfect to lounge next to with a cocktail in hand.
Outside cooking and dining couldn’t be easier. The sunken gravelled garden has an outdoor kitchen including a brick built charcoal barbecue, a gas barbecue and sink, along with teak dining tables and chairs, to seat 16.
The large lawn area to the side of the Stables is ideal for family ball games and letting off steam. The lake, woodland and 25 acres of fields are just beyond the lawn area and are all for your exploration and enjoyment.
Fishing is permitted on the lake. It is stocked with carp, please bring your own fishing rod.
The tennis court is on Merrieweathers estate and can be used with prior arrangement. Tennis ball and racquets are available for your use. The court can also be used for zorb football.
