What is provided at the property?
Egyptian cotton bed linen
Bathroom towels
Summer months: charcoal and firelighters for the outdoor barbecue.
Initial set up of all basic kitchen and domestic essentials: tea towels, washing up liquid and tablets, toilet rolls, black bags, cleaning products, tea, instant coffee, sugar. Cooking spray oil, salt and pepper.
Hand soap, shower gel and hair shampoo
What do I need to bring?
‘Top ups’ of any domestic essentials such as toilet rolls, especially if staying more than a weekend.
Table napkins, if required.
Suitable walking boots or wellies, as it can be muddy at any time of the year. Warm jumpers/cardigan/gloves and scarf, especially if clay pigeon shooting.
Indoor shoes or slippers- no shoes rule in the house.
Cot bedding/steriliser/baby link.
Fishing rod and fishing licence if intending to fish.
Can I arrive early?
Our arrival time is 4 pm and 10 am departure. If you would like to extend your stay we charge £50 per hour extra. Please enquire if you would like this option, as it is subject to availability.
Can I bring a dog?
Merrieweathers accepts 2 dogs max. and these must be disclosed to us when booking. There is a £40 per dog fee. They must not be left unattended. No puppies.
Can I organise a caterer?
We can give you list of several local caterers for you to arrange catering directly. They have all been used by previous guests and recommended. Please also see our ‘Extras’ page for Activities + Catering packages.
Is the property isolated? Is there a noise curfew?
Merrieweathers Stables and Hayloft is not an isolated property. There are three other properties on the estate. The playing of music or making a noise which is clearly audible in a nearby accommodation is not permitted after 11.00 pm. No external amplified system can be brought in.
Can I arrange for a supermarket delivery?
It is possible for you arrange for a supermarket delivery but please ensure that the delivery time is after your arrival, so that you can be there to unpack and put chilled foods away. Supermarkets that deliver here include Sainsburys, Tescos, Ocado and Waitrose. Can I order beer/lager for the bar pumps in the Games Barn?
The bar is not stocked, so feel free to bring your own selection of drinks. The optics take up to 1 litre bottles.
If you wish to use the pumps, beer can be ordered from Lakedown Brewery which is a local brewery. Nearer the time of your stay we will provide you with a link to their ordering system which will show current availability and enable you to purchase at trade prices. Prior to your arrival we will collect the cask on your behalf, clean the pipes and settle the beer ready for your arrival. After your stay we will return the cask on your behalf and clean the system. There is a charge of £60 for this service (which would be in addition to your purchase of the beer). Lakedown also brew Pilsner (lager) and other gas driven keg ales which cannot be attached to the hand pumps but for which we can supply dispensing equipment at the same cost as above. Please contact us for further details on any of the above or if you wish to put in an order.
There is WiFi. No external sound system can be used.
Can I fish on the lake?
Fishing is permitted with a fishing licence. There are carp, tench, roach and trout. Please bring own fishing rod.
Can I bring extra guests, sleeping on an airbed?
We only accept up to 18 guests including children – i.e. those on your guest list.
Can I book the swimming pool?
The outdoor heated swimming pool is an extra and by arrangement only, in the months of July & August between 9 am and 6 pm. £200 would be added to your amount to pay 6 weeks before arrival.
