It has been six months since our first guests arrived at Merrieweathers. It was a wedding celebration with a vintage afternoon tea and an outdoor ceremony overlooking our beautiful lake. The weekend was a huge success and every weekend since we have had celebratory bookings: stags, hens, birthdays and family holidays. The pool has been in constant use and the croquet lawn has had more games played on it than it ever. Reading our guest book each week has revealed a common thread; there is so much to do here that everyone has fun and wants to come back!

Merrieweather’s lake
The late Summer sun has meant that September has been glorious. We have seen several ice-bucket challenges recently, one ending with a lake dip, and one ending in the swimming pool. Merrieweathers does have a fabulous setting for the swimming pool and due to demand next year we are going to extend our swimming pool season and leave it heated for one more month – until the end of October.
In the coming six months, with all our weekends fully booked, I am expecting that our Winter Barbecue Lodge will be well-used. Guests have re-named it ‘Hagrid’s Hut’ and it really is a novel way to spend an evening; barbecuing in a cosy hut, on a platform over the lake, so even if the weather is cold, or wet and windy there is still a huge amount of fun to be had.
It is no surprise that the Games Lodge with the bar has been a massive hit with guests. Some have taken the opportunity to have it stocked with a barrel of local ale, and tapped up to the pumps. We have introduced a catering option of having bar food prepared and served and I expect that next year this will be very popular. We have bought two vintage arcade games for the Lodge, one a golf arcade game and one an eighties style arcade game. They were reconditioned and they have been a huge hit with guests of all ages.
So after an amazing six months I am looking forward to meeting more lovely people and hosting more celebrations. No matter what the season or weather there is always something to do and fun to be had at Merrieweathers.
