Merrieweathers Country House is set in a rural location within 50 acres and is accessed by a wooded half mile drive. The house and outdoor facilities (sole use) are available for weekly letting (Friday change over) throughout the year, as well as three night weekends.
The house itself has roots back to the 13th century and has a colourful and varied history seeing time as a working farm, a mill and at the turn of the 20th century becoming a private dwelling. Most notably Merrieweathers House was owned by the sculptor and artist Sir Thomas Brock whose most famous work is the Queen Victoria Memorial situated in front of Buckingham Palace. His designs can still be seen within the house today in the form of the bay windows and the stunning stained glass in the entrance hall. During the last decade Merrieweathers has undergone an extensive sympathetic restoration process which has maintained its historical feel yet provides modern living.
